The Boro of Hillsdale, in conjunction with New Jersey Transit, offers parking for commuters who travel the Pascack Valley Line.  Located adjacent to the train platform, there are two marked parking lots that provide parking to those who have obtained the proper NJ Transit Parking Permit from Boro Hall.  Pursuant to Boro Ordinance 22-17D, parking in these lots requires the proper NJ Transit parking sticker until 10 a.m. weekdays.  Boro Parking Permits are not valid stickers for parking in these lots.  These, as well as all Boro parking lots, are monitored by the Police Department to ensure compliance.  Violators may receive a summons or be towed at the owner's expense.

How the Parking Lots Work...

The parking lots are situated as follows: one next to the King's Shopping Plaza, off Washington Avenue, on Higgonson Crossing; the second is located on Winkler Way, directly across from Bergen County Garden Center and Hillsdale Paint.  These lots are clearly marked with official NJ Transit signs.

The NJ Transit Parking Permit is available to area residents (Hillsdale and Pascack Valley residents) through Boro Hall during normal business hours.  The cost for the sticker, which is valid for one year, is $360.  Commuters need to present their valid vehicle registration card for the vehicle with which they will be using the permit.

Additionally, Boro of Hillsdale residents may obtain (a permit at a reduced rate) a Boro Parking Permit, allowing parking access at the Boro's two Municipal Parking Lots. The cost of one permit for the 2008 Calendar year is $100.00, additional vehicle permits will cost $25.00. In addition, the Borough West parking lot has 4 spaces (located at northwest corner of West Lot)which cost only $1.00 per day to park in. Those spaces are first come first serve and were intended to be used by in-frequent users of the parking lot.  Finally, there is the NJ Transit Commuter Pay Lot , which is open to all area residents for daily parking at a rate of $3.00.
